The situations of human beings when they meet Jesus
i) In debt: he had no way to pay the price of sin;
ii) In trouble: because he knew that one day he would have to answer for it;
iii) Bitter: there was no joy in life nor hope in his heart.
Jesus' word to man is: “You will not die in the cave." Just as David took those men out of that place and transformed them into a victorious army, the Lord Jesus came to meet us so that we may be part of a victorious army, which is the church. Man's situation was similar to that of a fugitive. Because of sin, he hid, just as when Adam sinned, he hid from the Lord.
He will soon be released: Jesus came to free man. The Lord is in a hurry to save man and free him from the slavery of the world. And as soon as Jesus shed his blood, all the yoke of sin fell to the ground immediately. The veil of separation was torn, and once and for all, all separation was abolished. Man no longer needs to hide from God. Now he can walk together with his Savior and King.
Bread will not be lacking: This is the promise of eternity. The place where man will never lack anything is only in eternity. The Lord will take him to His glory. “O man, live forever, for my God has sent his angel (Jesus), and He has shut the mouth of death,” is the message of Daniel 6:21-22 for all men. Jesus, the only way to Salvation- Jesus' advice is to reach God's blessing because we cannot find Him in the many streets, on all the roads, or in the squares. The text of Jeremiah 6:16-17 speaks about the various paths (various life options) that man can take. There are many paths in the world that man can decide to live.
The path of reason;
The path of culture;
The path of madness;
The path of religion;
The path of religious tradition;
The path of religious movements;
The path of philosophy;
The path of materialism
The path that seeks power;
The path of sin;
The path of idolatry;
And many, many other paths.
Every human being can choose which path they wish to follow. There is no problem in following the path of culture, religion, or some religious movement. It is also not a sin to possess wealth. But if a man desires to rest for their soul, they must find the right path, which has a name: Jesus. Jesus is the right path, but to see it, the Holy Spirit must reveal it because it is impossible to do so unless it is revealed. In Isaiah 30:21, the Holy Spirit shows man the right path and advises: “This is the way: walk in it.” For those who have already found the right path, the advice now is: walk in it. The third piece of advice is: Have you seen the way? Are you walking in it? Then: “Listen to the sound of the trumpet.” The fourth trumpet will sound, and the church will be in the glory of the Lord.
It is necessary to be attentive to this moment. Israel’s experience was like this: Jesus said: “I am the way.” Israel responded: “We will not walk in it.” The Lord said, “Listen to the sound of the trumpet.” Israel responded, “We will not listen.” Israel did not accept Jesus. They did not want to know the way. For this reason, they do not wish to follow it and are not attentive to the prophetic signs of His return. The blessing was transferred to the church because Israel rejected the Lord’s counsel. In the book of Acts, at the beginning of the evangelization, when a person accepted salvation after hearing the gospel of Christ, it was said that this person was on the right path (Acts 16:10). The church knows the right path, walks on it, and is attentive to the sound of the trumpet.
Caring for God’s Work (Jeremiah 7:11)
The unity of God’s Word is impressive and extraordinary. When David fled from Saul’s persecution, he went to a place known as the cave of Adullam. Men in debt, bitter in spirit, and distressed lived in that cave (I Sam 22:2). It was a true den of robbers.
David typifies the Lord Jesus, for he left his kingdom to come into the world to meet a people which He calls a den of robbers. David left the kingdom of Israel, just as Jesus Christ left the eternal kingdom. David knew exactly the kind of people he would find in that cave. The Lord Jesus also knew the kind of people he would find in the world. David entered that cave alone, just as Jesus came alone from eternity, as we have already quoted several times in the text of Isaiah 63:3 (“I have trodden the winepress alone, and of the people, there was no one with me”). David had nothing with him except the sword he took from Goliath and the sacred bread he received from the hands of the priest Ahimelech (1 Sam 21:4 and 9). He took those men out of their terrible condition and gave them direction, forming a victorious army fighting for the kingdom. In the same way, Jesus came to meet the human being, manifesting Himself as the Bread of Life and the Word of Truth, showing us the Way of Salvation, taking man out of his miserable situation and leading him to fight for the kingdom of God (John 14:6). For men in debt, He came to shed His precious blood, which paid the total price, redeeming the debt. For men in distress, without a place, the Lord gave His work, gave them direction, and led them to their eternity. For those with bitter hearts, He gave the sweetness of His Holy Spirit.
